The Metro City Police Department, in coordination with the FBI, U.S. Attorney's Office, and state law enforcement agencies, announces the arrest of 23 individuals on charges related to public corruption, bribery, fraud, and racketeering.

The arrests, executed early this morning across multiple locations in Metro City and surrounding areas, conclude a two-year investigation into alleged corruption within city government and associated criminal enterprises.

  • 5 licensed contractors
  • 9 individuals connected to known criminal organizations

Full names and charges will be released following initial court appearances scheduled for March 15, 2038.

Investigation Background

The investigation began in early 2036 following financial irregularities identified during routine audits. Evidence gathered includes financial records, communications intercepts, and witness testimony.

The Department acknowledges receipt of additional digital evidence through an anonymous source in January 2038. The admissibility and chain of custody of this evidence is currently under legal review. The investigation and arrests were conducted through lawful means with proper judicial authorization.

MCPD Statement

"The Metro City Police Department is committed to rooting out corruption at all levels," said Police Commissioner James Whitfield. "No one is above the law. We will continue to work with our federal partners to ensure those who abuse public trust are held accountable."

Commissioner Whitfield emphasized that the Department does not condone or encourage vigilante activity: "Evidence obtained outside proper legal channels undermines our justice system, regardless of its content. We urge anyone with information about criminal activity to report it through official channels."

  • Summary of alleged criminal conduct (redacted for ongoing investigation)
  • Information regarding affected city contracts and services
